WRO® and Aramco sign Global Innovation Partnership to Launch Global Robotics Learning Platform for Students
Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemical companies, and World Robot Olympiad™ (WRO®) today announced a collaboration to drive innovation in robotics and advance STEM education among students. WRO was established in 2004 with the vision of bringing students from all over the world together to develop their creativity, design and problem-solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities. Every year, thousands of students participate in the local chapter of their WRO for a chance to qualify for the global competition – with a different host country each year. Aramco will be the exclusive global innovation partner for WRO, enabling the expansion and enhancement of WRO’s “Future Innovators” competition category. Under this category, young people aged 8-19 will get a chance to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems and represent their country at the WRO International Final. Aramco and WRO will also develop and launch WRO LEARN, a digital platform curating educational content for WRO competitions from all over the world. The platform will also feature activities aimed at introducing robotics concepts to students and educators. This is WRO’s first robotics learning platform, created specifically for students and their teachers, with contributions from industry experts, academia and the WRO community. Aramco and WRO will prioritize reaching key markets, including Saudi Arabia, India, China and USA with tailored challenge materials and increased accessibility. “WRO has grown in the past two decades to become synonymous with encouraging innovation among students. We are immensely encouraged by Aramco’s deep commitment to join us on this journey to take the youth innovation agenda to an even higher level,” said Secretary General, Claus Ditlev Christensen, WRO. “Aramco is proud to support programs like WRO that deliver critical STEM skills that can propel individuals towards career success,” added Khalid Al Zamil, Vice President, Public Affairs, Aramco. Through the ‘Future Innovators’ challenge and the WRO LEARN platform, Aramco and WRO aim to equip over 6,000 students with advanced STEM skills to participate in the Future Innovators competition within two years and provide access to WRO LEARN for students in almost 100 countries. The collaboration was launched in Singapore, as the country will host the 2025 International Finals for WRO. Singapore recently won the highly competitive bid to host WRO 2025, which attracts thousands of student champions from all corners of the globe, providing them an opportunity to showcase their robotics expertise. The collaboration between WRO and Aramco represents a significant step towards fostering a new generation of innovators and problem-solvers. By investing in STEM education and robotics, both organizations are committed to shaping a brighter future for generations to come. Aramco has a proud history of providing opportunities for training and education over many decades, including world-class training and first-rate vocational programs. Partnering with WRO amplifies Aramco’s dedication to educational excellence.
